Strong Feathers

Image
Strong Feathers -poem by Deial Johnson Don’t you think that The beauty of a bird Depends upon the number of feathers It has? For what beauty does a bald chicken possess? Or what a generation would the peacock beget? Or can the eagle boast about losing half its feathers? No! certainly never!   Feathers are amazing; It’s a blessing and a burden. More the feathers, the prettier it looks And heavier it gets; Weaker the feathers, The more difficult for it to aid in flying; And stronger the feathers, The more capable it is of being light.   Truly, feathers are amazing.

Youth

Image
Youth - poem written by Deial Johnson  pic credit: internet A girl is sitting infront of me. She is looking out the window of the Kadamba bus That will take her to someplace.   Her eyes linger out, staring at the damaged roads, lush green trees, and an array of vehicles waiting to cross the Zuari bridge.   She looks like someone familiar to me, Like one I've known for years; A girl for my past- that's what I think she is.   As I look at her sitting opposite me in the bus, I see the youth in her masked face. She has not a single sign of stress- it seems, Because she has no dark circles.   In some way, she reminded me of my childhood days, Bliss and stress-free! And sometimes, my childhood is where I long to be! Yet, I'm glad that I see me in her, her in me.  Poem written in the bus while traveling from college back home. A young girl, probably 13-15 years old got into the bus. Maybe she was going back home or vice-versa from tuition.

A CARt in Goa!

Image
Pic credit: Deial  Saw this at the bus stop this morning. I appreciate those men actually. In a state where everyone owns a vehicle per person, these persons were on a cart... This is what is meant by exercising personal freedom and normalizing individual choice - even if it doesn't seem cool or relevant to others. Seriously, I've got to stop being bothered by what others perceive of me when I want to be me.  I felt amazing after seeing them today.

Out of ideas for breakfast? Try this!

For instance, yesterday morning she heated Dodol  into a creamy consistency and then applied it to her bread. Who would've thought that Dodol could be eaten as Nutella! Dodol is a sweet dish made in Goa, especially during festivals like Christmas. I was too hesitant to try it. She said it was great.  Try and let me know!

A Mantra For A Happy Living

Image
Let's learn how to make the best use of the items we always take for granted. Have a look at this picture. Instead of installing a provision for drip irrigation, this owner has achieved the fullest potential of a drip irrigation technique by just working smart. He just simply cut a normal pipe at regular intervals so that the water flows directly at the root, at the same time! It basically means that this man really broke the system! "When life throws lemons at you, make lemonade." This is a pretty common phrase we've all heard of. But is it actually as easy as it claims to be? Will you make a tasty lemonade with the lemons that hurt you? Are you able to make the best out of every situation - especially those that seem really negative and demotivated? Well, it's all about the lens you use. What you see around has to be carefully filtered before letting it into your brain. And do the same when you let out anything from it too. Keeping the mind healthy is very impor

A Little Help To Planet Earth

Image
Saw this in the bus today. I've seen dustbins on some old ones, but a special one just for plastic bottles is my first time seeing.  Plastic is a non-biodegradable waste and is rampantly polluting the earth. The earth will be full of plastic only if we don't alter our actions. What better time than now to act upon a sustainable plan?! In the KTC bus in Goa Pic credit: Deial

This is a wonderful Malayalam hymn that I love. I Run To You by Lea Michele

The city sky's feeling dark tonight We're back to back with our heads down Just look at me, give me more tonight Just give me more of your love now Let's set fire to the lonely night You're beautiful when you look at me Let's give love another life Cause you'll be safe in these arms of mine Just call my name on the edge of the night And I'll run to you, I'll run to you I would run to you I would run to you, If you want me to Just give me some kind of reason I'll take the pain, take it all away Give it some kind of meaning Let's let go, let it be the start You know I'm feeling the same thing Let's let go of our broken hearts Cause you'll be safe in these arms of mine Just call my name on the edge of the night And I'll run to you, I'll run to you Even if it's gonna break me, love Gonna make my way to you Anyway it's gonna take me, love I run to you I run to you Run, run Cause you'll be safe in these arms of mine Ju

#travelogue - Kerala Day 2

Image
the team. pic credit: Deial 02 March, 2022 Today was “Ponmudi Day.” We all set to the hill viewpoint early (like 8:30-9:00 am) with Prasad uncle and Molamma aunty. Breakfast was Porota and Beef from any hotel we encountered on the way. The food was all we needed to light our moods instantly after the car rocked our butts on a rocky kaccha road for miles. After that, we set out again to complete the interrupted mission. Hilly area that it was, the roads were full of turns. I critically accessed my dad’s driving skills that day. He had to increase and decrease the speed several times and he did it so effortlessly, without a single flaw. Breakfast ! After about an hour (max), we reached the destination. The view was incredible. It was truly a sight to see. God’s creation at its best. God must be watching this place up from heaven every day, I thought.  We spent sometime on the hilltop trying the wrestle the wind and click some photos. I don’t know how to calculate the speed of win
