Youth
Youth - poem written by Deial Johnson pic credit: internet A girl is sitting infront of me. She is looking out the window of the Kadamba bus That will take her to someplace. Her eyes linger out, staring at the damaged roads, lush green trees, and an array of vehicles waiting to cross the Zuari bridge. She looks like someone familiar to me, Like one I've known for years; A girl for my past- that's what I think she is. As I look at her sitting opposite me in the bus, I see the youth in her masked face. She has not a single sign of stress- it seems, Because she has no dark circles. In some way, she reminded me of my childhood days, Bliss and stress-free! And sometimes, my childhood is where I long to be! Yet, I'm glad that I see me in her, her in me. Poem written in the bus while traveling from college back home. A young girl, probably 13-15 years old got into the bus. Maybe she was going back home or vice-versa from tuition.
