For those who don’t know,
I have a discovery to share
The sea unlike humans and animals can speak!
It speaks a language unheard to mere ears;
It speaks- not in whispers-
But roars;
Sometimes fiercely, sometimes calm.
I heard it share its sorrow to me-
Sorrows vast as itself;
Of dying lives and its polluted heart,
Its tears multiplying daily.
I heard the sea,
My friend in whom I most confide,
Calling out to me,
To venture into its depths
And explore its hidden secrets,
To protect its world,
That holds together the world.
I heard the sea calling me…

  Finally, my 21st birthday! Celebrated it with family friends. Aunt Eliza, my previous neighbour and the only neighbour I ever had, shaped my perspective and approach about the Goan culture and traditions through my interactions with her children Patrick and Wanda. They partly raised me and my sister. I honour them as much as I love and miss them being here in Verna (and they in Sancoale), and so happy to have them beside me as I enter adulthood.
